This just in: Disaffected impetuous college kids of privilege will protest inequality something or rather tomorrow at UCSC. Plan for delays on the West side.

not everyone is privileged to be here. some of us work really hard to pay bills as well as get attempt to get a quality education. i wasnt meant to be at this university. i am a women, mexican, a daughter of single mother. also, the workers at the dining halls are in union with the students….are they previliged? no! they aren’t! instead of making statements like this about the whole student body at ucsc i would encourage you to sit an listen to some of the students and their struggles to even get into a higher education institution. not all of us just get a free ride to college.

a lot of these organizers are students of colors. and a large majority of us are not what you refer to as privileged. many of us are lucky to be here because we come from low income/working class communities where college is not a reality. students are out their protesting because they can recognize that the UC system is institutionally racist and it is making it close to impossible for us to be in school. raising tuition…who do you think that affects? definitely not those privileged kids you speak of, and I doubt they are the ones out there protesting anyway. students of color are most affected by these university policies. and you will very well note our presence at the protests. check yo self before you make such great assumptions about students at ucsc.
